This skydiver wedding cake was requested by the bride because her amazing groom was a paratrooper in the US Army. The bride’s main request was that I somehow have a figure parachuting off the top of the cake. The groom had been stationed in Alaska, while the bride, who loves horseback riding, was still living in New Jersey. Their motto was “Let’s meet in the middle” since the groom will soon to be deployed to the middle east.
The parachute was hand made out of gumpaste and carefully hung, along with the figurine, on a very strong wire that was inserted into a wooden dowel. The dowel went through the entire cake in order to support the weight of the figure and parachute. The girl on horseback at the bottom was also a figurine supplied by the bride. Overall I think this skydiving cake is unlike any other I’ve made before!
