My cousin and his fiance started the holiday tradition of having an “Ugly Christmas Sweater” party every year. Over the years the guest list has grown a lot, so this year they decided to expand it and make the party a fundraiser for the St. Jude Children’s hospital. The benefit was held at the Knights of Columbus in Seaford, NY. Many local business as well as friends and family made donations for the benefit.
I volunteered to make an ugly sweater cake for the event since I thought it would be perfect for the theme. I used an image from the Benefit’s website as the sweater to mimic.
The cake was carved at the top to look like the neck and shoulders of a sweater. I cut out black and red fondant to cover the cake with, make sure they matched up like puzzle pieces. I then added fondant holly leaves, a wreath, and other holiday decorations to match the picture.
